I was greatly inspired by psychologist Carl Jung’s philosophies of consciousness. He believed that everyone has a unique personal consciousness, made up of fragments that we allow ourselves to see and interpret from a universal subconscious. Jung believed this universal subconscious was made of a collection of archetypes which he described as universal inborn patterns, images, and tendencies that play a role in influencing human behavior. I have taken this body of work as a place to explore my relationship to these archetypes. Through exploring my relationship to things such as relationships, family and friends, triumph versus struggle, and the passing of time, I have placed my own consciousness within the universal subconscious.
