The picture of this painting will never do it justice. The background is a sandblasted relief of an old gate I had to restore at work. The ragged edge of one ply of wood eaten away from the layer beneath it reminded me of water. My whole family including my son who was 5 at the time helped me paint the background to this piece. And my wife Sarah put the finishing touches on the flowers and the fish.
